Charmaine Howell

Charmaine Howell is a retired Jamaican athlete and Olympic silver medalist, part of the Jamaican 4x400m relay team that secured silver at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Howell's athletic talent shone early in her career. At the CARIFTA Games, she won silver in the 800m and 1500m in 1990 (U17) and earned bronze in the 400m and 800m in 1991. Competing as a U20 athlete, she won gold in the 4x400m, silver in the 800m, and silver in the 1500m at the 1993 CARIFTA Games, and in 1994, she won gold in the 1500m and bronze in the 800m. Howell's early success in middle-distance running paved the way for her pivotal role in the Jamaican relay team, leaving a lasting legacy in track and field.
